American Museum Of Natural History Biological Anthropology Intern, Fall 2024
The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education and exhibition.
As part of the Anthropology Internship Program, the Division of Anthropology is seeking a part-time, term Biological Anthropology Intern for Fall 2024. The Internship Program is for undergraduate and graduate students interested in careers in anthropology, museums or related fields. Anthropology interns work on projects relating to the collections or the ongoing research interests of the curatorial staff in the Museum or in the field.
The Biological Anthropology Intern will be involved in organization of research lab casts, equipment and existing digital data assets (i.e., photos, scans). The Intern will spend the majority of their time digitizing field data and adding/editing metadata for long-term data preservation and management. The Intern will also assist with ongoing research projects within the lab.

Job duties include:
- Organize physical and digital assets, including casts, field notebooks and photographs. A significant amount of time will be devoted to adding field data and associated metadata into a Digital Asset Management projects.
- Receive training on research methods being used in the lab, including supervised collection of data and/or processing scan data (i.e., CT-scanned, laser-scanned).
The expected salary for the Biological Anthropology Intern is $20/hour. This position is overtime-eligible.
Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience.
Required Qualifications: - High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic familiarity with computer programs and operations.
Preferred Qualifications: - College coursework in anthropology, anatomy or biology.
- Great communication and organization skills.
