Marketing Intern/Volunteer - Unpaid

Interns are students who complete a set number of hours of work as a requirement of a college-level course or degree program. Program requirements and job duties vary and are part of an agreement between the student, their school, Family Services, and the internship supervisor. 

We will also consider volunteers for this role who are not currently seeking course credit with a course or degree program. 

This internship/volunteer position is best suited for a student who can work onsite at our Poughkeepsie, NY location, although fully remote candidates will be considered. Intern Requirements :

  • Interns are required to complete the number of hours designated by their school in exchange for credit hours.
  • Interns must be enrolled in a program with a school that will enter into an affiliation agreement with Family Services. 

Intern/Volunteer Responsibilities :

  • Assist in creating social media posts, promotional emails, and other marketing collateral.
  • Assist in the creation of written and image content for marketing channels via Canva and Adobe InDesign & Illustrator.
  • Participate in marketing brainstorming sessions.
  • Taking part in formal and informal training opportunities encouraged.

 

Competencies :

  • Applied understanding of basic marketing principles.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube).
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently.
  • Comfortable with multitasking in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of SEO techniques and best practices.
  • Basic image and video editing, and graphic design skills.

 

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to complete the standard Family Services background checks.
  • Complete required training, including on-site orientation, as required by internship program.
  • Other requirements as designated by the internship program.

 

Work Environment:

The work environment varies depending on the needs of the program and the intern/volunteer and will be discussed prior to the official start date.
