JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Medical Assistant / Admin to join our dynamic team dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health care. As a Mental Health Medical Assistant / Admin, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinicians and ensuring the smooth operation of our mental health practice. The position will encompass about 50% clinical work and 50% administrative work. You will be supervised and supported by the practice manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Patient Care: Provide direct patient care under the supervision of licensed mental health professionals, including taking vital signs, obtaining medical history, and assisting with psychiatric assessments.

· Medication Management: Assist in medication management by preparing and administering psychiatric medications as prescribed, and monitoring patients for any adverse reactions or side effects.

· Administrative Support: Perform various administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, maintaining electronic health records (EHR), and handling patient inquiries and communications, in person and by phone.

· Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment options, medication compliance, and self-care strategies to promote overall well-being.

· Collaborative Teamwork: Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary mental health team to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.

· Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency, effectiveness, and safety of mental health services provided by the practice.

· Compliance: Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards governing mental health care, including maintaining patient confidentiality and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

· High school diploma or equivalent and certification / training as a Medical Assistant required.

· Prior experience working in a mental health setting preferred, but not a requirement.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.

· Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in challenging or crisis situations.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

· Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software applications.

· Commitment to upholding ethical standards and providing compassionate care to individuals with mental health needs.
