School of Nursing Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs & Open Rank Clinical Faculty About the Opportunity The School of Nursing invites applications for an Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs with a faculty appointment as an assistant, associate, or full clinical professor. This position is a full-time, benefits-eligible, 52-week position with a starting date of summer/fall, 2024 or until the position is filled.
Responsibilities The Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs for the School of Nursing will work with the healthcare clinical facilities located in the Northeastern University Network to include the Boston, Burlington, and Charlotte campuses as well as those affiliated with our satellite programs to establish and maintain sites for student placements in clinical and practice settings at the prelicensure and graduate levels. The Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs will work closely with the Assistant Dean for Clinical and Experiential Education for Bouve College of Health Sciences to ensure that there is no duplication of effort. The incumbent will have 3-5 years of experience working collaboratively within the nursing discipline as well as interdisciplinary clinical experience.
The Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs must think strategically about clinical placements and work collaboratively with the undergraduate and graduate program faculty to provide oversight of nursing clinical education. Within this administrative and leadership role, the incumbent will represent the School of Nursing at internal and external clinical affiliation meetings and be responsible for ensuring that all clinical policies both at the clinical agency and the university are followed and documented to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation expectations as well as affiliation contracts. The administrative responsibilities include the day-to-day clinical operations and delivery of clinical placements/affiliations across all nursing programs. This position directly manages CPO personnel and must oversee their job functions and productivity, and indirectly supervises Clinical Course Coordinators and Clinical Instructors. The Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs will develop and maintain tracking methods to ensure that all records related to clinical affairs, including the tracking of student clinical experiences, documentation for all agreements with clinical partners, and documentation of compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards are available and archived appropriately. The incumbent will assist in the development of new sites that are consistent with the overall nursing program and course objectives, student needs and available clinical resources and will coordinate clinical placement efforts and outreach on behalf of the School of Nursing in alignment with Bouve College and Northeastern University
The incumbent will work with the School of Nursing Dean, Assistant Deans for Undergraduate and Graduate Programs to ensure that the State Boards of Nursing regulatory requirements, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) standards, the College and University processes, policies, and procedures are in compliance. This individual will work closely with Bouve College leadership and represent the School of Nursing at all clinical meetings within the college.
Qualifications Qualifications require a degree in nursing and earned doctorate in nursing, education, public health, or other related field by the start date of the appointment; and eligibility for an unrestricted RN licensure in Massachusetts. Applicant must have 3-5 years of experience working collaboratively within the nursing discipline as well as interdisciplinary clinical experience. Applicant must have an excellent record of college teaching in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching, not limited to but including adult health nursing, pediatric nursing, psychiatric mental health nursing, nurse anesthesia, nursing administration, nursing informatics, research, foundation skills or urban health nursing; demonstrated excellence and commitment to supporting a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.
