The incumbent will focus on the implementation and improvement of electronic data interchange (EDI) functionality and standards for Workers’ Compensation to address data quality. This person will serve as an EDI expert and will need to understand the EDI standards, define data quality issues and opportunities, propose changes to standards and the system, and implement changes to processes to improve data quality of Work Comp Campus. This position will work closely with the EDI team and supervisor and with external stakeholders of EDI and represent the department by being a point of contact and expert in EDI standards. This position will be critical to the improvement and maintenance of data quality for Work Comp Campus.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three (3) years professional experience* in the field of electronic data interchange (EDI).


Individuals who meet the above experiential requirement will be further evaluated on:

  • Ability to establish and implement data quality processes and standards.
  • Ability to map EDI data and maintain databases structured via EDI reporting.
  • Ability to plan and execute EDI related testing activities.
  • Ability to establish and implement system-wide approach to entity management.
  • Master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; Bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; Associates degree may substitute for six months of experience
  • Communication skills, verbal and written, sufficient to instruct, collaborate, inform and interact with diverse internal and external stakeholders in person, over the phone and via email in plain language.
  • Ability to organize and perform effectively; set and manage priorities autonomously and with others within demanding deadlines and changing/fluctuating circumstances.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who do not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or other common experiences.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Workers' Compensation business processes, policies, procedures, statutes and rules.
  • Experience and knowledge of document management tools such as SharePoint, Teams, web content, or other platforms used to share documentation.
  • Experience using structured query tools like SQL.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Language skills other than English (Somali, Spanish, Hmong, Karen or ASL).

This position is designated for hybrid and telework options:

  • Hybrid for State of MN allows an employee to work a portion of the time remotely with a regular schedule of time at the designated office.
  • Telework for State of MN allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
